No one could accuse Gypsy punk band Gogol Bordello of being lazy, with their string of albums and their mega list of gigs and festival appearances since they formed in 1999. Their chaotic brand of music somehow fuses eastern European folk with punk, while remaining politically and socially aware, rather as The Pogues fused Irish traditional music and punk. However, their reputation is heavily based on their frantic, ramshackle stage shows and a packed-out house in Manchester has turned out to see if they live up to it. |
