Hiss Golden Messenger is the moniker for MC Taylor's Americana folk band and he has chosen to embark on this tour as a solo artist, nothing but guitars and humour to entertain. From the outset he lays down his intent with an emotionally wrenching acapella number that encapsulates the audience drawing them forward into his world and it becomes apparent that this will be one helluva set. |

Californian blues rockers Rival Sons have been doing their thing now for 10 years and during that time have steadily grown in popularity, putting out six albums - the most recent of which, the well-received 'Feral Roots', was released earlier this year - and expanding their fanbase. |

A Hozier review – for a concert, album, whatever – can be boiled down to two simple words. That voice. That voice fills the Palladium on a Saturday night, and makes a bunch of pop fans listen to the blues for two hours. That voice has sold this venue out for five consecutive nights. That voice elicits tears, chills, screams of joy, from the top tier seats to the front row stalls. |

Sheryl Crow doesn’t come to the UK nearly as often as I would like her to, but whenever she does it’s an absolute pleasure to be in the same room listening to her and the incredible band perform some of the greatest songs of the last 25 years. She’s been one of my top 5 go-to artists for the last quarter of a century and has sound tracked some of my most favourite moments with some of my most favourite friends. |

Danny Bowes has a Thunderous voice but a less than 50% Rock’n’Roll performance, sat down for 100% of the time, it all fell a little short of the mark in York tonight. We came for Thunder but only witnessed some light drizzle. |

The crowd went wild as Fun Lovin' Criminals appeared on stage. Frontman Huey looking a little worse for wear perching on a red leather chair with his leg strapped up as he hobbled on bravely. |

As The Night Sweats open the set, Nathaniel Rateliff’s presence is met with an overwhelming onset of applause and cheering. His hands take hold of the mic and his powerful voice resonates with every spectator. |

It’s been a while since I’ve been completely blown away by a support band, and actually the last Clutch support that really did that was Clutch when they supported themselves as The Bakerton Group, but tonight both supports managed to do exactly that. |

The Magpie Salute bring some Americana, Earthy Blues and Southern Rock to Manchester. Showcasing new songs from album ‘High Water I’, they were so much more than former members of The Black Crowes. |

I’d heard mixed things about Greta Van Fleet from ‘they’re just a Zeppelin covers band’ to ‘absolutely incredible stuff' but I’m usually not one to just take other people’s word for it so I had to check them out for myself. I love the album Anthem of the Peaceful Army, and yes, it is very Zeppelin-esque - but who cares - I love Zeppelin. |

Birmingham Alabama Soul comes to Leeds and Saint Paul Janeway preaches to the converted. St. Paul & The Broken Bones live at the Irish Centre. This gig was supposed to be at The Brudenell, then I saw it advertised as the O2 Academy, eventually we are advised that it has been moved to the Irish Centre, which is exactly where I saw St Paul & the Broken Bones 2 years ago. Inside, this place resembles a large working men’s club with two levels and a handful of seats spread along the walls. It probably hasn’t changed much in 30 years and tonight it will play host to some slick blues and funky soul, some of the best and authentic southern American soul you will see this side of Otis Redding. |

MC5 were a massively influential band predating and inspiring the New York punk scene with their blues infused garage rock. A fact evidenced by the calibre of the all-star collection of musicians who have joined original member Wayne Kramer to play this 50th anniversary tour celebrating their music. |
