Blair Jollands’ latest offering 7 Blood is out now at most good record shops and streaming services. The latest offering from the New Zealand singer songwriter doesn’t disappoint with infectious songs and clever lyrics it’s a must for fans and newbies alike.

7 Blood is both magical yet mysterious, you never know what is about to come next with this spectacular album as it takes you on a journey of musical genres.

For me a highlight was the title track 7 Blood, a disco-esque beat ladened with a horn flowing through the first 20 or so seconds of the intro before Jollands starts to sing. The catchy beat is reminiscent of something you’d expect from old hands like Pharrell or Nile Rogers and immediately grasps you to listen as his raspy vocals drop into the beat.

The diverse genres span across the impressive album leaving something for everyone and showcasing Blairs’ raw talents. The reggae infused vibes of Mojacar Moon with poppy vocals preludes the dark rock Revelation’s bouncing drum beat and guitar riff. It doesn’t stop there as Drifting Song takes you on a romantic journey consumed with hauntingly beautiful vocals in a piece which could of came straight out of a Tim Burton soundtrack with tales of love and longing.

The 10 track album is the second to come from the UK based musician, in the three years since his debut album Half Life graced the scene. Blair’s latest offering showcases the unique musician at his finest showing both his vocal and multi instrumental talents as a name to watch out for in next years award ceremonies.
