Arcadia Taking place within London’s iconic Olympic Park and designed to celebrate Arcadia’s tenth anniversary this two day, three staged festival offered an experience that can’t be found at any other. Arcadia has a trump card up its sleeve. Rather than sell itself on a long list of household names; the draw is in-fact something that you won’t be able to get at any other festival – a unique and attention grabbing stage that’s built to resemble a giant mechanized Spider that wouldn’t look out of place in the Terminator film franchise.

Reef This album is a real, real mixed bag. From the opening track and album title, Revelation, you would be expecting a real rock n roll hyped up ride, indeed the opening track sounds a little like an AC/DC cover. It’s not, but it certainly has strains of the aussie rockers. This is no bad thing, but it belies what else is coming on the album. You see, what follows is a fabulous blend of Rock n Roll, Blues, Southern Country Rock and indeed gospel.

The teaser singles ‘Dawning’ and album title track, ‘For Now’ had hinted at a band expanding their influences, maturing and searching for their own sound.

Manic Street Preachers The first time I saw the Manic Street Preachers was at the Adelphi in Hull back in 1991, at the time they raced through their soon to be released debut double album in 70mph post punk fashion, the sound was abysmal but that didn’t matter as they were the band of their time, fashionably brash and didn’t give a damn about what they said, or who they said it to.

Kioko If you’re reading this it’s safe to assume that you love music, and hopefully you hate racism. If that’s the case, check out Love Music, Hate Racism! They were founded in 2002 during a time of increasing prejudice (remember that time the BNP started to gain support? *Shudder*). They’ve been peacefully campaigning for equality across all ethnic groups ever since, using gigs that celebrate love and acceptance.
