Glass Animals A dense colony inhabited Birmingham’s O2 Institute on Friday night, long-anticipating the indie-tronic hums of Oxford’s alt-rock band, Glass Animals. Headlining their very first Birmingham gig, their colossal fan base (unbeknown to me) penetrated my ear-drums upon the lad’s entrance to the stage.

The Fallen State I first came across The Fallen State when attending 3 Doors Down concert last November where The Fallen State was one of the opening acts and I become a fan since then. When they announced their tour, I just knew that I must attend and so I did! They owned the stage!

Bonobo With crowd-pleasing support from Jens Kuross and Daktyl, and a sold-out tour of the newest album Migration, there’s no denying that Bonobo have returned with a bang. Performing to a packed-out O2 Apollo crowd in Manchester, Simon Green (Bonobo), was shrouded in darkness for much of the show, with focal lighting on the stunning vocalist Szjerdene Mulcare and the almost-orchestral 12-piece band consisting of strings, brass, guitar, drums and keys.

White Lies The last time I saw White Lies it was a freezing November evening way back in 2009. I started the night by drinking an outrageous amount of vodka and I ended it singing along to the casualty theme tune in my mates front room with my top off... This time around, I arrived at Sheffield Academy half asleep after my wife and I spent all day moving house. While I am obviously delighted with that considerable change in my personal life, it is somewhat comforting to know I can slip back into the world of White Lies and nothing much has changed. Same plain, black t-shirts, same massive choruses and the same important themes.

Pet Shop Boys From West end girls and East end boys, to the boys and girls of the West Midlands, as this multi-awarding winning 80s electronica band, that continue to record , recently issuing their thirteen offering, tonight bring their show to the Barclaycard Arena. Julia Jacklin With support from Keto, Julia Jacklin plus band took to the stage to woops and applause in the intimate basement room of The Soup Kitchen, Manchester, the stench of cheesy feet not seeming to perturb band nor audience. Filling the room with her warming, self-assured vocals and indie-alt rock/country sound, with lyrics that explore the intimate intricacies and universal qualities of relationships and life, Jacklin was enchanting.
