It’s been quite the year for Zara Larsson. After rocketing into the international music scene in 2015, 2017 saw the release of her second studio album ‘So Good’, a hit-single packed pop triumph which has catapulted her into being a regular on the UK singles charts. Her catchy, accessible upbeat pop sound has seen Larsson amass a loyal following and a wide and varied fan base. We’re here at Manchester’s O2 Apollo to see how Larsson’s chart and club hit successes translate into a live show.

Playing at Manchester’s Apollo is a testament to Larsson’s appeal at such an exciting stage in her career. There’s no doubt she deserves to be here. The Apollo is full of fans, with excited enthusiasm permeating the air in anticipation of the evening ahead. Tonight’s set starts off with support from Taya.

From the moment Larsson appears on stage to her final song, she has the room under her spell. Larsson has the voice, there is no doubt, but she also knows how to put on a show, which is perhaps in part down to the fact she has been in show business since the age of 10. Flanked by a talented group of backing dancers, Larsson puts on an upbeat, exciting and fun show. One the audience clearly enjoys.

She glides through a set of irresistibly catchy pop songs, with massive hit single ‘Symphony’, being the true high point. The naturally euphoric melody plays out well in a live arena, with thousands of fans delighting in singing every word back. ‘Never Forget You’, ‘I Would Like’ and ‘Lush Life’ are memorable moments, which bring together a great evening of melodic pop.

Larsson may just be 19, but judging by tonight’s show she is already a bonafide pop star. It’s not hard to imagine the successes that lie ahead if she continues to create music with this overarching commercial appeal, and delivers live shows like this.

Larsson’s tour continues to London, Birmingham and Portsmouth. For all updates, follow Zara on Twitter, Instagram and Facebook.
