You Me At Six

First to tonight’s stage is VANT hailing from “planet earth”, although, I’m fairly sure these are from the north east judging by lead singer Mattie Vant’s accent. Their sound isn’t something that tonight’s crowd usually listen to, but it is appreciated. Melodic riffs over the top of guitars allow them to open up their crowd. Mattie is also not happy about the BREXIT vote and lets the whole crowd know, “it’s something I’m just willing to accept” he tells them, but I’m not sure whether the average age range in tonight’s audience are either A, of age to vote, or B, that bothered anyway of his words about the subject. Their stage is washed with beautiful autumnal colours of light and it definitely makes for a great show to watch but I think that the crowd are definitely ready for tonight’s headliners.

You Me at Six are now used to playing venues of the arena caliber, so obviously with a 2500 cap, tickets sold out very quickly and the venue is completely sold out. With a deep blue light, singer Josh Franceschi enters the stage alone and gives us some of his beautiful melodies shortly joined by the rest of the band after.

Song “Loverboy” gets the entire crowd on their feet, including the seating upstairs, and all singing in equal measure, this is clearly one of their anthem songs and others including “Stay with Me” & “Reckless” follow suit. Then like a Mexican wave from the back of the venue, “YORKSHIRE, YORKSHIRE, YORKSHIRE” finds it’s way throughout the venue and every person is chanting along, Leeds is definitely the band’s second home, with many of their friends here tonight and it’s clear that they love being here. Josh has every person in his power, with the audience singing along to every word. With a visually brilliant show, and a band that’s so on point, I don’t think anyone that came tonight will be asking for a refund.
