Gig Review by Josh Silverton with Photography by Ben Lamming

Volbeat

Volbeat, the heavy metal rockers from Denmark, landed to a full capacity crowd at the O2 Academy Birmingham. With Support from fellow heavy metal band Iced Earth from The United States, and up and coming UK band The Howling. This made for an excellent night of Guitar shredding, Head banging, and Fist Pumping.

Volbeat were fresh with a whole bunch of new songs from their latest Album ‘Outlaw Gentlemen And Shady Ladies’ and did not disappoint an eager crowd with their unique fusion of Rock ‘n’ Roll and Metal. Following the announcement of new guitarist Rob Caggiano (Anthrax) being added to the bands already high quality line-up, you can hear his distinctive guitar sound throughout show. The show also had a surprise with Napalm Death Vocalist, Mark ‘Barney’ Greenway, making a guest appearance on the song he featured on ‘Evelyn’ from their album Beyond Hell/Above Heaven and a cover of his own band’s song, ‘You Suffer’.
