Leon Bridges On this most special of days, 100 years on, the country, festooned in poppies and everyone remembering those who had gone before us, it was fitting to see such a special artist as Mr Leon Bridges at Birmingham's Institute.

Jorja Smith Team Gig Junkies have been lucky enough to find themselves in delectable company of a certain Miss Jorja Smith twice this year. In the summer, on the day that a cartoon blimp depicting the American President was floating around London being roundly booed and jeered by 1000s of revellers like a modern day Court Jester, she was putting on a more classy showpiece at the wonderful surrounds of Somerset House. It was the perfect anecdote to all the political craziness.

Miles Kane As a patriotic Brummie I don’t tend to venture too deeply into the unchartered town centre of ‘Cov’ as it’s affectionally called by the locals, because well, they pretty much don’t like us! The lure of a certain Mr Miles Kane however was too strong. So, with geographical allegiances firmly put aside for the evening and disguise well and truly ‘donned’ it was all systems go with a short trip along the Coventry Road!

Embrace Having liked Embrace for over 20 years and only having seen them a handful of times I was more than a little excited. The older clientele in attendance would suggest that I wasn't alone in my 20 year love affair with the Leeds band, and based on the crowd’s reaction it wasn’t the first time many of them had seen them.

Sunflower Bean Bizarrely, I’d never been instructed to ‘step into the room on the right’ whilst attending any one of a number of gigs at the Hare & Hounds in King's Heath, but I was on this night. The fact that it’s twice the size of the other room is testament to the sudden popularity of New York’s newest rock trio, Sunflower Bean.

Twentytwo In Blue by Sunflower Bean It was with great excitement that Sunflower Bean's second album Twentytwo In Blue, arrived at the Gig Junkies' HQ *virtually last week. Since hearing the latest offering 'I was a Fool' from the brilliant Brooklyn trio, I’ve been a little obsessed with the band and was more than a little wired to delve into the album to see if it maintained the the same feeling of positivity and quality throughout. Needless to say I wasn’t disappointed.

Tom Grennan It was an expectant crowd last night at the O2 Institute waiting for one of the current darlings of the airwaves, Bedford's Tom Grennan. Almost as cold inside as it was out, there was an eclectic mix of punters from many backgrounds, but all shared that palpable sense of excitement for the singer's performance.

Frank Carter & The Rattlesnakes As is customary on ‘these types’ of evenings the ‘Facial Hair per attendee’ ratio was a good 30% higher than a normal gig. Yes ladies and gentlemen a certain Mr Frank Carter was in town with his Rattlesnakes to deliver their own unique brand of English hardcore punk. It was gonna be wild, gonna be raucous and gonna be a whole lot of fun.
