Tom Odell Manchester has more than it's fair share of cool venues, we're absolutely spoiled for choice. But every once in a while, an opportunity comes along to see live music in a new and completely different location, and this is a chance that can't be missed. To see a gig at Manchester Town Hall is a very rare treat. To see an artist of Odell's stature there is really special.

Festival No.6 As another Summer turns towards yet another Autumn, and with warm days soon to be replaced by shorter cooler days, I find myself in North Wales, (or more precisely) in Portmeirion, for my second visit to Festival No.6 now in its third year of being. Portmeirion, a rich and colourful Italianate village designed by the late Architect, William Clough Ellis and built overlooking the River Dwryryd estuary was home to the 1960’s cult TV show “The Prisoner”, the lead character played by Patrick McGoohan who was the “No.6” that the festival references.

Tom Odell I’ve been interested in Tom Odell, long before ‘Can’t Pretend’ was used to advertise the latest series of The Newsroom (at which my heart dropped as no good has ever come from someone whose song has been used in advertising before they’ve even established themselves). ‘Can’t Pretend’ reeled me in the very first time I heard it – not so much through any complexity, but instead through the rhythmic ebb and flow of a song whose melody blended with simplistic lyrics to create a rousing tidal wave crashing down and leaving only an empty flat refrain – an aftermath, acceptance of the unhealthy relationship described therein. A song written by a talented songwriter that left me wanting more. Fast forward through 2013, the release of Long Way Down, a string of nominations and awards, and now I finally had the opportunity to see him live.

Jake Bugg There’s a lot of fervour about a certain Mr Jake Bugg at the moment. Having supported the likes of the Stone Roses as well as gigging with (and receiving plaudits from) the singer/song writing legend that is Mr Noel Gallagher you can see why. Now, I’m not one to gloat but the Gig Junkies team have been supporting the wee fella for an age and beyond and quite frankly think that he is rather splendid indeed!
