Broken Brass Ensemble Preceding themselves with claims of pioneering Brass 2.0, Broken Brass Ensemble arrive with some big shoes to fill. Strolling into Bristol’s floating-est venue to promote new record With a Vengeance, the eight-piece seemed to be looking to prove two things: 1. Brass bands can be cool, and 2. The boat can - literally - be rocked.

Slow Readers Club Multiple generations packed out one of the UK’s most unique venues as Slow Readers Club rocked the boat at Thekla in Bristol on 17th November. The Mancunian four-piece rolled into the city’s cargo-ship-turned-music-hall halfway through a sold-out UK tour, and were greeted by stacks of fans who were chomping at the bit to see the headliners right from the start.

Jonathan Wilson Thekla in Bristol is a novel venue as it is a cargo ship moored in Bristol’s Mud Dock area, and as we climb aboard the support act Omar Velasco is finishing the final song of his set.  However, this means it is not long until the main act, Jonathan Wilson, is due to take the stage.
