Gogol Bordello The audience for Gogol Bordello were an unexpected mixed bag - the punks, goths, and musos in their requisite uniforms - with the addition of a lot of younger children with parents. GB don’t strike me as the MOST child friendly band, but their infectious energy clearly appeals to a very broad demographic.

Midlake Usually, if a band loses its chief songwriter and frontman, that would be it. But, sometimes bands pull through - take Fleetwood Mac after Peter Green quit, for example. Last year Midlake lost its leader, Tim Smith. Instead of winding up the ensemble, guitarist and singer Eric Pulido was promoted to lead singer and the band pooled their songwriting talents. The resulting new album, ‘Antiphon’, has received good reviews, but how will the new Midlake come over live?

Lacuna Coil There was little to disappoint - unless, that is, you’re averse to having a ‘snakebite’ induced hangover exacerbated by a Medea mascara’d Archangel Thunderbird of bewitching charm doing bulldozer hand-brake turns over your nuts-sack. Milanese Baroque Goth n’Metal rollers, Lacuna Coil, led by cantanti, panda-minx Christina Scabbia and Andrea Ferro, whipped (oh just imagine it!) the faithful Wulfrun Hall punters in to a delirium of mutual ecstatic delight tonight. Moscow is still recovering, apparently.

Band Of Horses Right, mustn’t mention the World Cup... bollocks... okay that’s the last mention of it. Promise.
