Pale Waves Teenagers packed out The Garage in London on a Wednesday night in anticipation of seeing Manchester, indie-pop band, Pale Waves. Formed back in 2014, it’s been an exciting ride for the four-piece and they’re currently making ripples on the indie scene. In January 2018 Pale Waves were 5th on the annual ‘BBC Sound of 2018’ and recently, in February 2018, the band won the 'NME Under the Radar' award at the NME Awards 2018. The band was founded by the lead singer and guitarist, Heather Baron-Gracie and drummer Ciara Doran.

Orchard Hill 19th of April I attended the penultimate gig organised by European Tour Collective, whereby Orchard Hill, Face the Ocean, Syren City, Speaking in Shadows and Nightlife descended on the Garage in London for an epic night of awesome homegrown UK rock.

The Vaselines The Vaselines were only a band for two years. They broke up within a week of releasing their 1989 debut ‘Dum Dum’. Nonetheless, their cult status was cemented in the early 90s when Nirvana covered a number of their songs, and the Glasgow pair are now in their sixth year as a reformed band. While the indie-pop jangle of ‘Dum Dum’ can be heard in many current acts, including the likes of Courtney Barnett and Big Deal, the band’s recent albums, 2010’s ‘Sex With an X’ and this year’s ‘V for Vaselines’ prove that they are the true pioneers of the genre- and tonight at the Garage, new songs are just as heralded as the old favourites.
