Jane Weaver Seemingly from nowhere, Jane Weaver shot to prominence last year with her cosmic, trippy, space-folk-rock album, ‘The Silver Globe’, the title taken from a 1970s sci-fi film. Rachel Zeffira Rachel Zeffira is one half of Cat’s Eyes, the other half being Faris Badwan of The Horrors. The duo released the ‘Cat’s Eyes’ album, generally considered to be one of the most interesting and best of 2011. However, now she is also a successful solo artist, having released her debut album, ‘The Deserters’, in December of last year. An awkward time to release a record, as this one came too late to be considered for albums of the year. It’s a beautiful, tranquil and melancholy album, that is spending a lot of time on my CD player. So I am very eager to hot-foot it up to Manchester to catch one of Rachel Zeffira’s few current gigs.

Clinic I’ve been a fan of Clinic for many years now, but have never seen them live. They’ve long been on my list of bands ‘to see’, but they don’t seem to do that many gigs. So I really jumped at the opportunity to pop up to Manchester’s Deaf Institute to catch one of a small number of UK concerts they’re playing before they head off on a North American tour.

Tim Burgess 2012 has been a busy year for Tim Burgess. Following a stomping anniversary tour of The Charlatans hit 1997 album Tellin' Stories he could have been forgiven for taking some time out. But no, Burgess hasn't sat still. He's released his critically well-received second solo album 'Oh No I Love You' and embarked on a tour of the UK to promote it.
