Maximo Park For a while, you could be forgiven for thinking Maximo Park had succumbed to the law of diminishing returns. For, despite a stellar career that's spanned nearly 17 years, there's a nagging feeling that they've never quite topped their classic debut 'A Certain Trigger'. While there's been plenty of decent singles, each subsequent album seemed a little more lacklustre - and, maybe, the 2015 tour celebrating the 10th anniversary of that release seemed a bit like a swansong.

Black Spiders So where to start with this one. Well the parental advisory message may be both apt and too late but nevertheless anyone of a sensitive disposition should probably look away now. Sometime last year Black Spiders announced they were to be no more. One last gig was planned and that was to be it. The fans clamoured for more and eventually Pete ‘Spider’ Spiby kicked in the door of their collective padded cell and unleashed his Spiders on the UK one last time. An eight date "F*** Off Black Spiders" Final Tour.

Skinny Lister It’s the second night of Skinny Lister’s headline, sold out UK tour on the back of third album 'The Devil, The Heart & The Fight'. Skinny Lister always seem to be gigging. I have no idea when they find the time to write and record new material but they manage it and the quality never slips. Their third album is glossier and more polished than 'Down On Deptford Broadway' and 'Forge & Flagon' but it still has that distinctive Skinny Lister feel. Punk Shanties I think has to be the accepted Lister genre. Certainly live the new songs get the full on SL treatment.

Wilko Johnson Wilko Johnson arrives for the last night of his tour in York, proving he’s definitely not dead yet! There is an overwhelming simplicity to this, a 3 piece band, playing classic R&B tunes for an hour and a half with no backdrop (just a black curtain), no huge light show or need to occupy the whole of the stage. It’s breathtakingly perfect, a stripped back no nonsense honest showcase of what old school rock and roll music should feel like.

Rick Astley Back in the mid-eighties, the charts were filled with songs from the so called Hit Factory, masterminded by Stock, Aitken and Waterman. They sounded much the same but were very successful and from it spawned two notable stars. The first was a soap actress, who went on to become a global star, and the other, a young white man with the most incredible soul voice, had a similar destiny laid out before him. However, that young man had other ideas, and at his height of fame walked away. That young man was Rick Astley
