he Flaming Lips close Festival No.6, Portmeirion, Wales, UK on Sunday 10th September, 2017 With summer feeling like a distant memory, and a more autumnal feel, my penultimate festival of the summer (and the year) finds me back at Portmeirion for the sixth Festival No.6, and my fifth visit to this beautiful spot in North Wales for one of my favourite festivals.

elbow So tonight's gig takes us to a forest. Quite literally in Cheshire. Delamere Forest to be precise. Few thousand camping chairs, picnics going on - we've set up camp and wait for tonight's headliner; we're building rockets in forests with the delectable and friendly bunch that are elbow.

Steve Mason It’s a cold and damp Sunday evening in Manchester and the largely deserted Oxford Road around The Academy is festooned with fenced-off road works. Not an appealing start to the evening, but fortunately we are about to come in from the cold and witness a spirited solo performance from former Beta Band man Steve Mason.

Nothing More Kinda breezy as we make our way to the 02 Academy tonight to be entertained by ‘one of the nicest men’ in the music biz. He’s on his ‘own’ tonight having ‘left’ his band compatriots to go on a journey of his own. He’s still very much a part of Elbow, but tonight Guy Garvey is out with his own offering ‘Courting the Squall.’

Festival No.6 As another Summer turns towards yet another Autumn, and with warm days soon to be replaced by shorter cooler days, I find myself in North Wales, (or more precisely) in Portmeirion, for my second visit to Festival No.6 now in its third year of being. Portmeirion, a rich and colourful Italianate village designed by the late Architect, William Clough Ellis and built overlooking the River Dwryryd estuary was home to the 1960’s cult TV show “The Prisoner”, the lead character played by Patrick McGoohan who was the “No.6” that the festival references.

Festival No.6 Festival No.6 takes place over the weekend of the 5, 6, 7 September 2014 in the stunning village of Portmeirion, Wales, home of cult TV series The Prisoner. The multi-award winning Festival No.6 features an extensive line-up, headed by the iconic Pet Shop Boys as well as Beck, Laurent Garnier, Norwegian disco king Todd Terje and London Grammar.
