Slam Dunk Festival Midlands 2016 Slam Dunk arrived and certainly left its mark. The Midlands leg of this festival found itself a new home at the NEC complex, thanks to a refurb at its regular Wolves home. There was a vastness that felt sterile and dispersed the usual pent up energy, sweat and hormones synonymous with Slam Dunk. However, it didn't take long for the crowd to make it their own, sit wherever they could find space and bring a festival scuzz to the shiny Genting arena.

Slam Dunk Festival Another year of Slam Dunk, another year of flitting between stages and attempting to avert the eyes from the tiny denim shorts and the flesh they are revealing in 80% of their wearers. Tattoos a plenty are on show. The boys are a mix of sleek quiffs, emo hair and long tresses, whilst the girls bring the colour to the hair from vintage rockabilly looks to straight up grunge, with a few corsets and heels for good measure.

Slam Dunk Festival North It’s not that often you get lost in a university students union. How many of them are big enough that you end up walking in circle passing by the supermarket and terrace bar on several occasions before you realise you’ve wandered past the room you wanted twice? Well Leeds University Student Union is one such place you can do that which was why it turned out to be an excellent host for the Slam Dunk Festival North on Saturday.

Slam Dunk Festival Now in its 11th year, the Slam Dunk Festival continues to grow, attracting bigger and better bands and ever-larger crowds. This year was no exception, with no fewer than 46 bands playing across two main dates and three support events. Birmingham was one of these smaller gigs but still packed an impressive punch, showcasing 16 bands covering ska, punk, rock, and metal.
