Corduroy Thursday night in Leeds and it was a warm welcome back to Corduroy, purveyors of all things Acid Jazz. The venue wasn’t by any means sold out tonight, but I can safely say if you missed this gig, you definitely missed out!

Drenge The title of Drenge’s latest album 'Strange Creatures' seems to sum up the band’s recent history pretty well. The band have mutated over the years into a hulking four piece grunge beast, a far cry from the simple double act they used to be. Under the cloak of darkness they arrived at the O2 Institute, hungry and ready to devour Birmingham whole.

Michael Chapman Michael Chapman is a 78 year-old British singer-songwriter and guitarist who forged a formidable reputation from a string of classic 1970's albums, perhaps most notably ‘Fully Qualified Survivor’. He is nothing if not prolific and continues to make albums (now over 30) and give live performances. His song-writing skills are widely respected, as is his skilful guitar playing. Sonic Youth’s Thurston Moore is one of his admirers and they toured together back in 2013.

Roy Harper “As long as I can skip I will be coming back” were Roy Harper’s closing remarks as he playfully skipped off the stage as if he were a five year old. Heart warming and poignant it was a fitting end to what is billed as ‘The Last Tour: 50 Years of Monumental Classics’.

Ólafur Arnalds Modern maestro Ólafur Arnalds brings a generous helping of Icelandic magic to Cardiff with a dazzling 90 minute long set that is as strange as it is epic. So much so, that long before he enters the stage, a bizarre hush has already befallen the audience as a pair of self-playing pianos tiptoe their way through a sequence of eerily muted notes. The silence is alien, the anticipation overwhelming.

The Slow Readers Club Sheffield has always had a love affair with The Slow Readers Club and vice versa and so it is that the SRC juggernaut roles into The Steel City for the 13th night of their mammoth 48 date UK & mainland Europe tour. The fact they’ve sold out the Leadmill main room is testament to this love affair. As singer Aaron Starkie alludes to on stage it is their biggest gig outside their home city of Manchester.

The Wailers Bob Marley passed away back in 1981, but his legacy and stunningly good musical output is safe in the hands of The Wailers who delighted the crowd at Leeds O2 tonight. Ably supported by Jeramiah Ferrari from Manchester, this was an evening which went down an absolute treat.

Kacy and Clayton Kacy Anderson and Clayton Linthicum are cousins who grew up in rural Saskatchewan, Canada. Kacy and Clayton’s musical partnership was forged by a mutual love of timeless old traditional music. Starting off playing in local venues they’ve since gained many fans and admirers and their most recent acclaimed album ‘The Siren’s Song’ was produced by Jeff Tweedy of Wilco. The duo are currently touring in Europe and tonight they follow up their London gig with a debut visit to The Trades Club in Hebden Bridge. Recently they’ve gigged with an electric band, but for the current tour the pair are playing acoustic.
