New Power Generation Indigo at the O2 last night laid down its funky weapons as the legendary New Power Generation came to town. The excitement in the queues with happy, smiling faces was a site to behold as Prince's legendary backing band returned to the historic home of the 21 nights aftershows back in 2007 kicking off the opening night of the European Summer 'Celebrating Prince Tour'.

DAY ONE - Common People Festival Oxford's South Park was a-washed with vibrant colours and culinary aromas as people flocked to spend their bank holiday at Common People. From the same family as Bestival, the team created this two day family friendly extravaganza filled with good music and excitement for all ages.

My Name Is Prince Gig Junkies popped along to the preview for the My Name Is Prince Exhibition at London's The O2 Arena. As you go up the escalators the excitement builds like a kid at Christmas waiting for their favourite Christmas film, you know the likes of Home Alone, Gremlins, or Wonderful life. Floor to ceiling displays incorporating the different looks and styles showcased by the Minneapolis icon greet you alongside ones of Elvis who shares the exhibition space next door as you enter into the merchandise shop.

Prince 2016 has been a terrible year so far. Social media is weeping at yet another loss of an icon. And again we reel in shock at the unexpected announcement of the death of Prince Rogers Nelson, aged just 57, at his home in Minnesota.

Goodnight Lenin At last, after a gestation period that makes the average Elephant birth seem a tad premature (apparently it takes around 2 years between getting jiggy and wetting the baby’s trunk...who’d be a lady elephant eh?) this year will finally see the release of Goodnight Lenin’s debut album. Definitely. 100%. No question at all. Hurrah! To prove they can deliver the goods against the clock a few weeks back they set themselves the challenge of recording, mixing and mastering a single for Record Store Day in just one mammoth 24 hour session. The resulting recording, just 24 copies of which have been pressed, will be sold on Record Store day itself, this Saturday 19th April (hence the timing of this gig I guess).
