Maxïmo Park

Maxïmo Park celebrate their 10-year existence with a sold-out performance within the faux Grecian décor of Birmingham’s O2 Institute. Support comes from Stealing Sheep, who appear on stage through smoke and UFO-like lighting, clad in black & neon capes and matching sunglasses, to sounds reminiscent of the X-Files theme tune.

Maxïmo Park Having dipped in and out of Maxïmo Park's career over the last ten years and having already seen several unbeatable live performances, I was excited to see how they'd evolved since the last time I caught them back in 2010. The Institute is the perfect setting for their typically decadent offering and the room fills up quickly despite the early Friday night start time.

Maximo Park t’s no secret that Maximo Park are a near-perfect live band. It’s also a well-known fact that they have made some of the best albums in UK indie within their 12-year career. This is reflected tonight at Shepherd’s Bush Empire- a setlist which does not heavily focus on their latest release ‘The National Health’, but instead provides a good dose of their discography which their fanbase cannot get enough of, judging from the unending movement in the venue.
