Bloxx I’ve just had the Mondayest Monday blown away by the ferocious and harmonious sound that was Bloxx, along with some of my hearing. You know what I mean; it’s Monday for a start, I’ve just had one of those days and it’s absolutely pouring with rain. Little did I know, I was about to discover a cure.

Richard Hawley One of Sheffield’s most beloved sons. A South Yorkshire troubadour that still has the fire and skill to make you laugh and cry in the space of a couple of verses and a chorus. Richard Hawley takes to the stage to the haunting tones of Al Bowlly’s The Very Thought of You and from there the Sheffield audience, his audience, are enraptured and enchanted by a set that never strays too far from the spellbinding.

Bang Bang Romeo Fresh from supporting P!NK on the European leg of her Beautiful Trauma world tour (and with barely enough time to enjoy some home comforts) Bang Bang Romeo are on the road again. Tonight is the 4th night of a sold out 17 date tour. They’re out promoting debut album ‘A Heartbreaker’s Guide To The Galaxy’, released digitally on the 1st November and so it is that all but one of tonight’s 12 track set list is featured on the album.

The Rasmus "You’re going to see The Rasmus? THE Rasmus?" is the main question I received when I informed people if my Tuesday night plans. The Finnish rock band have been on the scene since ’94 and still manage to draw in a crowd worldwide in 2019. Arguably the groups most popular album, Dead Letters, was the focus of this tour with the band playing the album in full and then finishing with a selection of songs from their other records.

Black Flag After a rip roaring opener there is only one word to describe Black Flag and that’s underwhelming. When you finally get round to seeing stalwarts of the scene you want to feel a build up of energy for when they enter the stage. As the between bands pop-punk playlist continues to ring out they they casually embrace their instruments to the sounds of Fall Out Boy’s Arms Race; positioning their A3 laminated set list for all to see. There was something comical and tragic about the affair. As if a contemporary Shakespeare had penned the moment a punk dream died.

King Gizzard & the Lizard Wizard Thunderous drums fill a HUGE room in North London to a sold out crowd. The sound is extra fat and dirty coming from not one, but two powerhouse drummers. Low, ball destroying guitars erupt to tease spectators. A little break. And a whirlwind of chaos sends everyone into one of the biggest mosh pit I’ve ever seen at London’s Alexandra Palace. There is no mercy. There are no points for second place. You either give it your all, or leave. THAT, my friends, is the effect of Australia’s finest band at the moment. I am, of course, talking about King Gizzard & the Lizard Wizard.

Hozier A Hozier review – for a concert, album, whatever – can be boiled down to two simple words. That voice. That voice fills the Palladium on a Saturday night, and makes a bunch of pop fans listen to the blues for two hours. That voice has sold this venue out for five consecutive nights. That voice elicits tears, chills, screams of joy, from the top tier seats to the front row stalls.

Sebadoh I’ve been a Sebadoh fan for years and love their brand of lo-fi indie rock. It’s really pleasing to see them now getting the recognition they deserve, with a recent radio-session for Marc Riley on Radio 6 and tonight playing to a sold-out Brudenell Social Club. Sebadoh’s best known member is Lou Barlow who has had an on-off parallel career as bass player in Dinosaur Jr.
