British Summertime Hyde Park Ft. Roger Waters It’s not every day you get to spend a Friday afternoon, in 30-degree sunshine watching some of your favourite artists, especially in England. So with that caveat in place, if anyone was looking for negativity from this writer, they were going to have to work pretty bloody hard to find some (sadly this did occur, sigh). The first thing that struck me upon seeing the bill was what an eclectic mix of performers had been jumbled in together, if anyone can tell me the link between Roger Waters, Richard Ashcroft, Seasick Steve, Squeeze etc, answers on a postcard…

Billy Idol Brixton Academy rocked last night like never before as Billy Idol took to the stage to a sold-out crowd. Fans waited patiently in line to fill the venue and see this rock legend do a range of tracks including some real rare gems. We were first treated to support provided by The Professionals which gave a good warm up to the main event with their punk style and cool personas. But all too soon it was time for the main event.

Jess Glynne Jess Glynne; 'Wow I didn't know she was a thing anymore' this was what my friend said to me after learning I was off to see her this evening. Well unless you've been under a rock the last couple of months she's back. Personally I would argue that she'd never gone anywhere, taking the de facto time off after her first album and record breaking six number ones (first for a British female solo artist) before releasing her upcoming second album. So far this year though she co-wrote Sigala and Paloma Faith's 'Lullaby', featured in Rudimental's 'These Days' (hitting UK number one) and Yungen's 'Mind On It', as well as releasing her own single 'I'll be there'. But it's been a while since we've seen her live, the first since she can remember and to paraphrase it's like 'starting anew'.

Arcade Fire A multi-sensory audio visual experience from a band who are often branded the best live band in the world. I discover many reasons why this is the case and I find myself thinking that I would pay more to see them. This is the 2nd night of a three night London leg of the #InfiniteContent Tour for Arcade Fire, following the release of their 5th album, Everything Now.

Carl Craig Synthesizer Ensemble So, "who's Carl Craig?" I hear you ask. Heralding from Detroit, Carl Craig is a music producer, considered one of the most influential names of the Detroit techno scene. "And the synthesizer ensemble? Explain that one". OK. This one is going to take some more explaining... First off there's an album; Versus, which Carl Craig did in collaboration with Les Siècles Orchestra; a French orchestra and classical pianist Francesco Tristano (although tonight Kelvin Sholar took the piano), the progeny of a concert in 2008, it had the intention of bringing club music to classic concert halls. It was this album that tonight's setlist was from.
