Paramore "Wow! This is the biggest show we’ve ever played!’’ said the 20-year-old Hayley Williams as she looked out at the 13,000 strong fans. Many of the front row had queued for hours and a few even camped over-night to be close to their idols. Paramore from Franklin, Tennessee formed in 2004, and with two songs on the massive Hollywood hit film 'Twilight', even being nominated for a Grammy for Best New Artist in 2008 proved the reason why they have such a growing popularity on stage at the NIA in Birmingham on the 11th December 2009.

Lily Allen Just over a week after Lily appeared on Radio One’s Live Lounge with Sara Cox where Lily announced that she intends to take a year or so off from music and writing. So tonight’s gig/tour has even more excitement around it as we're all wondering how long it will be before we see Lily strutting her stuff on stage again? Despite being a poorly girl (suffering with laryngitis) during her Live lounge performance her voice sounded great tonight, powerful yet sweetly angelic, not a croak was heard.

Yeah Yeah Yeahs I really didn’t know what to expect from a Yeah Yeah Yeah gig... I have a couple of their albums but I’ve never seen them live before. Without wanting to enrage YYYs fans everywhere I had a preconceived idea that it might be a bit boring. Well happily I was wrong.

Mr Hudson Despite his throat being “technically f****ed” as he put it, Mr Hudson’s performance in Derby on Friday the 13th was a confident and relaxed one. It was a thing of wonder witnessing one guy flirt with so many women in one go. I say women… The average age of the girls packed along the barrier couldn’t have been more than 17.

Just Jack Isn’t it strange how the nights you’re not overly excited about are always the ones that knock you sideways and imprint strong memories that you know will stay with you forever. Well that is exactly what happened at this gig and god I love it when that happens.

Calvin Harris When last we reviewed Calvin Harris, it was back in May at The Kasbah in Coventry. He literally blew us away on the night and we came away from the evening with bloody big grins on our faces. I commented at the time that I sensed a quantum shift taking place that would be felt upon release of the next album. So I approached this gig with wonderment at what we would get. Oh and did I mention I bloody love it when I’m right?! Calvin in May wore a tracksuit top/jeans/trainers combo and thoroughly entertained us with great tunes and good old electro beats. It was synthesiser city and he didn’t have much to say. He let his music do the talking.

Reverend and the Makers I was unsure of what to expect from reverend as I have not seen them before but I need not have worried- it was awesome! As we waited for the band to enter and I looked round at the crowd, what stunned me was the sheer age range they draw. Easily teens to mid forties and that’s impressive to reach out to such a myriad of generations. The band hail from Sheffield and since they first came together in 2006 have had tight links with the arctic monkeys (whom they supported back in April 2006) and the infamous ‘plug’ in Sheffield where they previously hosted a monthly club night ‘reverend sound system’.
