The Libertines The Libertines rocked into Birmingham Barclaycard arena as if it was no different from any of the smaller venues they had previously played, performing with the energy that was longed for during the ten years that passed before 'Anthems for Doomed Youth' emerged onto the scene late last year.

The Libertines So to the noughties band that were hey, a tad naughty. Critical acclaim took these indie-punks to the edge of the world, more than quite literally. As their star began to shine, these guys bickered and argued, one becoming the tabloid’s car crash of dream ticket as he fell into a drug oblivion.  So it is more than quite remarkable that these guys have survived to 2014, dabbling with Hyde Park over the summer and now to a trio of dates at the Ally Pally. Welcome tonight to the band who few predicted would have made it this far - welcome indeed to The Libertines.

Peter Doherty To many, Pete Doherty is just a pasty face on a magazine cover, a waster and symbol of hedonistic excess. But to some, he is a genuine role-model, talented songwriter and leader of the school of indie-cool that spawned so many pointy-shoe wearing copycats. Luckily for Pete, or Peter as his new album would have us believe, the majority of people streaming into the Birmingham academy tonight agreed with the latter, eagerly awaiting their scruffy, shambolic idol.
