Peter Gabriel Tonight to the last time for this particular Gig Junkies team at the LG Arena before it morphs into the Genting Arena. We’re here to see a performer who founded one of the biggest bands in rock history way back in 1967, who became prog rock legends. Just seven years in he left, they went on to sell over 140 million records - but he didn’t do too bad, businessman, singer-songwriter, record producer, humanitarian activist, and a solo performer in his own right - tonight he’ll be performing his classic,  most commercial and ridiculously successful 1986 album in it’s entirety - welcome tonight Mr. Peter Gabriel, performing “Back to Front’ including ‘So’ in it’s entirety.

Justin Timberlake You expect a Justin Timberlake show to be an epic event and considering the stage alone costs £6 million it is not surprising that ticket prices are so high. As the lights dim on a capacity crowd at the LG Arena, anticipation is running high and so is the volume of the female fans. Silhouettes of violin players are projected onto the massive honeycomb screen and Mr Timberlake rises up in a white dinner jacket with slicked back hair, looking incredibly dapper as if he has stepped out of the Luhrmann interpretation of The Great Gatsby.

Biffy Clyro Tonight is the second night of Biffy's first ever run of headline arena shows and they well and truly smash it with one of the most epic performances I've seen from them. They have seriously stepped up their game and when the first chords for 'Different People' ring out across the huge venue the curtain drops to reveal one hell of a stage set-up. What looks like a massive rib cage made out of trees takes up the majority of the stage behind which a massive screen flashes images throughout the performance and is definitely an impressive sight.

Taylor Swift As the lights dimmed we were deafened by high pitched screams and almost blinded by the multitude of neon lights being brandished by the tweens (slight exaggeration) Taylor Swift built the crowd up into a frenzy with Willows's 'Whip My Hair' in the same manner in which a boxer makes his way into the ring. The only difference here was 15,000 feet stamping up and down quickly in unison in growing excitement. Oh, and Taylor Swift is not a boxer!

JAY-Z Is Jay-Z the best rapper ever? This was the topic of conversation between my friends and I on the way to the LG Arena Wednesday night. You see people always mention names like Eminem, Tupac and Biggie but people seem to sleep on the man born Shawn Corey Carter. Jay-Z is critically acclaimed within the whole of the rap industry, with 10 Grammy awards (and many more nominations) to his name whilst selling around 40 million albums worldwide. His latest album and 11th studio release “Blueprint 3” went straight to number one on the Billboard 200 last year (like each album before it), which was a record for a solo act in the history of the album charts, surpassing the late, great Elvis Presley who had 10. With the album sales, awards and even historical records piling up, surely Jay deserves to be mentioned as one of the greatest solo artists of our generation, never mind just the rap game?

Rihanna Nothing to do with the performance - that was stunning - but more to the point, the fact that Rihanna didn't come on to the stage till nearly 10pm - almost an hour and a half after Pixie Lott had finished her performance. Now, it didn't really bother me, I had my iPhone to potter about with and there was a LOT of eye candy about, but - and it's a big BUT - the majority of the crowd were young girls, many of whom would be reliant on lifts off beleaguered parents/public transport to get home. I think even superstar Divas have a responsibility to their fans. It could have been a technical fault or she could have been applying another layer of make-up, who knows, but not a word of explanation or apology was uttered from either Rihanna or her management amongst the multitude of boos from the increasingly frustrated crowd as to why it was sooooo late to kick off. Bad form! Rant over!

Bad Company On approaching the LG Arena (NEC as it was formerly known) I couldn't work out whether it was the adverse weather conditions or the general age of the audience that was accounting for the copious amount of wrinkles at the Bad Company gig on Thursday night... ...On closer inspection, and much like the Fleetwood Mac gig that GJ covered last year, it was the average age of the blues bands fan base which accounted for the odd crows foot or two, not surprising when you consider that the band - the brain child of former Free front man Paul Rodgers, started plying their trade in the year I was born (1973 in case you didn't know) and had many of their hits throughout the 70s.
