Gomez It’s been a while but Gomez are back with their 20th anniversary edition of the ‘Bring It On’ album, and this isn’t just your usual remix rehash effort. Far from it, not only does it feature their original debut album but in addition the massive the 4 cd set also includes over 30 previously unreleased tracks, a recording of their set from Glastonbury 1998, rare demos and a BBC session. In short there are a massive 63 tracks which provide just over 4 and a half hours for your listening pleasure.

Tom Misch A sure sign you’re on the right track is when the original venue for the gig has to be moved due to high ticket demands, and on that basis 22 year old London based Tom Misch is clearly getting it right. Leeds Uni couldn’t meet the demand so on a post ‘Beast from the East’ Monday evening we found ourselves at a near capacity Leeds O2 Academy.

UB40 Since UB40 opened for business way back in 1978, they have been one of the UK’s leading advocates of reggae, and the ensuing 40 years have seen them release 18 albums, which have sold in lorry loads, and they also achieved global recognition. Until 2008 there line up was more or less stable, however that year saw the departure of Ali Campbell for well documented reasons. UB40 last night were made up of original members, Robin Campbell, Norman Hassan, Brian Travers, Earl Falconer and Duncan Campbell stepped in to take over vocal duties after the departure of Ali.

The Divine Comedy A cold and windy November evening in Leeds saw a welcome return of The Divine Comedy, a great British band fronted by their founder Neil Hannon. Many people have said that their best days are behind them, but if last night’s performance was anything to go by, they couldn’t be more wrong.

Average White Band The Irish Centre in Leeds saw the original funksters Average White Band play to a packed 800 capacity crowd, delivering a fizzing 90 minute set. Able support by DJ Lubi and Gip Damone, delivered a smoothly delivered funk and soul set to get the crowd in the mood.
