Kip Blackshire This week we had the honour of speaking with the immensely talented Kip Blackshire before he flew out of Los Angeles ahead of the European summer leg of New Power Generation's 'Celebrate Prince' Tour. After spending 1999 to 2002 with the NPG as vocals and keys, the artist who grew up as part of a fourth generation gospel family has performed with artists such as Eminem, Larry Graham and Nicki Minaj as well as building his own amazing solo career.

Aleem Chicago-born singer-songwriter Aleem returned to London after the European Tour with Fifth Harmony last October, performing songs from his previous singles at The Social. When I first listened to Aleem, I immediately became a fan! There's something about his voice, music and style that immediately steals your attention. Maybe his acoustic-guitar performance which had the Ed Sheeran vibes that made his music feels familiar yet different. I knew that I have to see him performing live!

The Amazons Interview We do this stuff at GJ.HQ because we LOVE music. It makes it so much nicer when you’re interviewing somebody who you have an instant affinity with. That was there in droves when I spoke to Matt Thompson, the lead singer of the band that everyone is talking about, The Amazons. A genuinely nice guy. Enjoying a well earned ‘sloth day’ and sporting only boxers and tee (thankfully it was a telephone interview) we chatted about all things music, marketing and mayhem!

Interview with Architects' Ali Dean Architects must surely be one of the hardest working British bands out there right now. We managed to grab a few minutes with bass player Ali Dean before their show at the Birmingham Institute recently to talk about AirMiles, stealing Kerrang! Award trophies and the whirlwind tour cycle for their amazing album Lost Forever // Lost Together.

Ash Soan I’m sitting here chatting to the remaining piece of this supergroup puzzle, (now known as Producers), Ash Soan, one of the most in demand drummers around right now (and a ruddy lovely chap to boot) who’s recently been pounding the skins for that little known singer/songwriter Adele. The whole set up seems difficult to believe but, minutes later, Ash joins three of the biggest producers of the last few decades to run through a selection of tracks old, new and, thanks to a cover of will.i.am’s cover of Video Killed The Radio Star, just a little bit blue.

Love in the Asylum Saturday night gigs are great at the Academy. Why? Well, being an old git that I am, and because of the curfew which means they have to finish at 9pm, means that I can be back home, tucked up in bed, watching Britain's Got Talent whilst it's still dusk. Smashing. This one was particularly enjoyable as it meant we got to hang out and then review our new buddies Love in the Asylum - a cheeky 4 piece from London, who are receiving plaudits a plenty, who look and sound like a band going places.
