Bingley Weekender Going back to work after six weeks off is always pretty challenging but to be whisked off to a festival straight afterwards certainly softens the dull ache of no longer being able to eat Coco Pops in your pants at midday. We arrived at Bingley Weekender cautiously optimistic after organisers had stepped in last minute to arrange the festival in place of the institution that is Bingley Music Live.

The Downs Bristol 2019 Nestled within bucolic parklands beyond the bustling edges of Bristol city, The Downs Festival returns for a triumphant fourth outing that brings together the special and the spectacular. This one-day event celebrates a diverse array of performances from both legendary and up-and-coming artists, topped off with a sizeable dollop of political goodwill. And despite the ominous presence of dark clouds and downpours that loom large that morning, blue skies and sunshine eventually triumph in time for the festival’s opening hour.

Boomtown Chapter 11 On a weekend where torrential rain and storm predictions caused numerous festivals to cancel due to health and safety issues, Hampshire’s Boomtown showed why 65,000 revellers make the journey every year for this festival of fun and frolics, not even storms could put a dampener on the delights Winchester has to offer.

Fairport's Cropredy Convention Everyday there is a cavalry charge at Cropredy when the gates open. But these aren't your standard gig junkies wanting to plant their elbows on the stage. These are regulars with camping chairs and picnic blankets looking for the best seated view half-way up the slope in front of the mixing desk. If you never felt more like sitting the blues this Oxfordshire festival is the one for you.

Kendal Calling 2019 A music festival nestled in the Cumbrian hills, sounds idyllic and it certainly is, although you’d struggle to actually see the hills and mountains other than the moment you park your car at the edge of the site. Then there’s that nice trek up a hill armed with all your camping provisions for a 3 day (or 4 for some lucky folks) event of fun, food, drink and most importantly the music. Yes, there was rain and mud this year, but that didn’t dampen the spirits or the impeccable organisation of Kendal Calling, the preparedness for the weather and ensuring a safe environment for all revellers. It is the lake district after all, so expect some fresh mud to cool your first day sunburn.

Cross The Tracks Recent years have seen festivals falling by the by and the big-name players even reducing schedules and missing out years. The team behind Cross The Tracks did an amazing job as they celebrated the opening year of Brixton's first funk, soul and jazz festival. As the crowds descended on the inner city's Brockwell Park, it was refreshing to see communities bonding, all ages and races excitedly arriving at the park as the sun shone through overcoming the predicted bad weather.

Love 4 Music Festival 2019 Now in its second year, Love 4 Music is a small one day dance festival created by Cultural Events Promotions, and whilst it would be fair to say that this event was by no means a sell-out, it would be equally fair to say that this is a festival very much in its infancy, but shows great promise, and has all the potential to become a bigger and permanent fixture in an already busy festival schedule in the UK.
