Kasabian It’s been quite a year for Kasabian. Fresh on the heels of headlining Glastonbury this summer followed by an a historic hometown show in front of 50,000 people at Victoria Park. Being announced as the Best Act in the World (Q Awards) and the launch of their critically acclaimed 5th album 48:13. Then to top it all off, a sell out tour! Not bad for a bunch of lads from Leicester!

Band of Skulls Southampton's alt-rock trio Band of Skulls took to the blue lit stage, guitars in hand, with the female vocalist (Emma Richardson) stood on one side of the stage, drummer (Matt Hayward) middle back and the male vocalist (Russell Marsden) stood directly opposite. As a band I’m not too familiar with, this staging proved they needed little to take control of the venue with their powerful sound.

The Stranglers My calendar was set for this 12 months ago even before the dates were announced. Like clockwork this is a annual night out that’s almost set in stone. And this time it’s a tad special. With a glint of ruby, this band are celebrating 40 years in the business. There can be few as resilient and as enduring, with a back catalogue to die for, than what these icons of the alternative possess. With a true stubbornness to call it quits, we’re here to see one of the UK's most enduring bands - The Stranglers.

Hawkwind Hawkwind are one of those legendary bands that seem to have been around forever. Much of their reputation comes from their superb live shows, which are audio-visual extravaganzas, featuring psychedelic lighting and dancers. Their current tour showcases their classic 1975 album ‘Warrior on the Edge of Time’ – plus a few other old favourite songs.

Bad Company On approaching the LG Arena (NEC as it was formerly known) I couldn't work out whether it was the adverse weather conditions or the general age of the audience that was accounting for the copious amount of wrinkles at the Bad Company gig on Thursday night... ...On closer inspection, and much like the Fleetwood Mac gig that GJ covered last year, it was the average age of the blues bands fan base which accounted for the odd crows foot or two, not surprising when you consider that the band - the brain child of former Free front man Paul Rodgers, started plying their trade in the year I was born (1973 in case you didn't know) and had many of their hits throughout the 70s.
