Kiefer Sutherland + Sound of the Sirens It's hot. Very hot! The weatherman tells us the hottest night in something like 40 years. So it's a great night to go into the city centre to the mid sized venue in the 02 Academy to be even hotter! But then again we have a Hollywood 'A' lister in town. So who wouldn't give up their evening to spend in the delectable company of Kiefer Sutherland, this time as musician and rock god, on his 'Not Enough Whiskey' Tour.

Wheatus If you’re between the ages of 15 and 55, you probably know Wheatus’ anthem 'Teenage Dirtbag' and likely, every word of it. Essentially only famous for the one song and with over 20 band member changes its release, I was curious to see whether the now 40-somethings can still entertain singing about their teenage shenanigans.

Slam Dunk 2017 West Midlands Slam Dunk you beautiful festival, you did it again. A week ago today I was writing a piece about my Slam Dunk picks when the events in Manchester unfolded and so it remains an article left unfinished. With these events in mind the security at Slam Dunk was understandably stepped up; with armed police, a wider cordon and security dotted everywhere. Parents took great reassurance as they left their children to embark upon a day of raucous escape from the world. Once inside the inner sanctum of fencing, the Slam Dunk atmosphere of misfits on the kerbs remained, drunken shenanigans and singing your hearts out with your friends ruled the day.

Echobelly When Echobelly announced new album 'Anarchy and Alchemy' after a thirteen year hiatus it took me right back down memory lane, staying over at my nan's on a Friday night as a twelve year old and raiding my 28 year old uncles CD, to collection nostalgically playing the likes of Oasis, Space, Sleeper and the mystical sounds and poignant lyrics from Sonya Madam belting out 'King Of The Kerb'.

The Vamps As the Genting Arena fell into darkness, the curtain dropped for an explosive pyrotechnic bang as The Vamps bounced onto the stage to smash hit ‘Wake Up’ ready for the last date of the UK tour and homecoming gig. Front man Brad Simpson whipped the crowd into a frenzy decked in his trademark floral pattern shirt as he asked the crowd, “are you ready to have a sing and dance with us tonight?”

Charlotte Church "Down the dark, dark stairs, upon the bloody gallows of soft rock, through the oubliette of cheese, into the torture chamber of disco..." So begins the description of Charlotte Church's 'Late Night Pop Dungeon'. Sure, Birmingham's O2 Institute might be a sight too spacious and sparkly to pass as an actual dungeon, but descending the stairs and walking towards the stage front there's every sense of entering a whole new world.

Wilko Johnson Wilko Johnson arrives for the last night of his tour in York, proving he’s definitely not dead yet! There is an overwhelming simplicity to this, a 3 piece band, playing classic R&B tunes for an hour and a half with no backdrop (just a black curtain), no huge light show or need to occupy the whole of the stage. It’s breathtakingly perfect, a stripped back no nonsense honest showcase of what old school rock and roll music should feel like.
