Emeli Sandé Four years ago, this young lady was everywhere. After a couple of hits with others, her debut album went stratospheric. She played at the Opening and Closing of London 2012 Olympics, won a couple of BRITS and also performed for the President of the United States of America. As you do. And now she's back, older, wiser, social justice campaigner, personal life challenges and new album in tow. Before the arenas cometh smaller venues - welcome tonight to the o2 Academy in Brum, Emeli Sandé.

All Time Low Outside the 02 Academy, the crowd barrier were ladened with duvets and blankets abandoned on a cold Spring evening in Birmingham, however inside was a different temperature altogether on this the sell-out school-night. Playing to a jam packed O2 Academy, support acts Watermarks and SWMRS warmed up the crowd for American teen rock favourites All Time Low encouraging the crowd to clap along and stomp their feet.

Laura Marling I’m used to seeing Marling seated. I say ‘used to’ as I first saw her tour with her debut album ‘Alas I Cannot Swim’ in 2008, when you were able to purchase a limited edition kit with album AND gig ticket (and prints, and more!) in one. I’ve seen her at least once on every tour since then, as a committed (and some may say obsessive) fan ever since.

ARW And so to the Symphony Hall for some symphonic prog rock by the legends of the genre. The foundations of tonight's performance started out half a century ago. Quite literally. When two blokes met in a bar in Soho. And went on one hell of a journey - musically and as a band. The current version of said band is somewhat different - but tonight, for the first time in 25 years, three members of the classic line-up (including one of the original founders) are here to perform for your delectation. Welcome, Jon Anderson, Trevor Rabin and Rick Wakeman - aka ARW - with an Evening of YES music.

Glass Animals A dense colony inhabited Birmingham’s O2 Institute on Friday night, long-anticipating the indie-tronic hums of Oxford’s alt-rock band, Glass Animals. Headlining their very first Birmingham gig, their colossal fan base (unbeknown to me) penetrated my ear-drums upon the lad’s entrance to the stage.

Ida Neilsen With a top 50 ranking in Bass Magazines all time bassists, Danish funk stress Ida Nielsen may be a name you recognise through past collaborations with 3rd Eye Girl and New Power Generation. However the past twelve months, her album 'Turn It Up' has skyrocketed her status as a solo performer showering the funk scene with mesmerising vocals and a raunchy bass riff as well as keys - there is no end to this lovely lady's talents.

Touché Amoré Touché Amoré are in the business of misery. The band’s journey mirrors the life and times of lead singer, Jeremy Bolm, through his hyper confessional lyricism that sees their latest release ‘Stage Four’ echoing the grief of an age-old tale that’s constantly raw. ‘Stage Four’ is universally hailed as their best record, with a European tour pressing selling out before they embarked upon the UK leg; a quick, foiled outer sleeve pressing ltd to 175, was rushed through to be hand numbered by Jeremy. With 19 copies available each night the early birds caught the worm.

Deaf Havana It’s unseasonably mild for mid-February, and I turn up to the Institute expecting to wander straight in, wearing short-sleeves. However, I’m faced with a queue snaking past two side roads and round a bend. Short sleeves were not a good idea. There’s a cool breeze in the air. Tonight I'm here for a batch of band that I'm looking forward to - headlined by Deaf Havana.
