NOFX A license to hate, Dad jokes and kick ass women. It was a line-up devised as much for the bands’ enjoyment as it was crowd pleasing.

Nouvelle Vague This tour is being billed as the Acoustic Shows Tour so tonight Nouvelle Vague are a stripped down four piece consisting of acoustic guitar, keyboards, a fine collection of hand-held percussion instruments plus a melodica. It’s fair to say that the boys haven’t gone overboard as regards stage costume; functional workaday jeans and trainers seem to do the job. Whereas Melaine, in a black velvet backless dress and Élodie in a long split skirt with lace top, look chic, classy and like they’re ready to tango in a 1920s Parisian nightclub.

Frank Turner In a packed out Camden Roundhouse, just under 2,000 fans eagerly anticipated the grand entry of the greatest showman that is Frank Turner. And his entry is certainly epic as his band mate trips him over whilst running onto the stage, falling flat on his face. An extremely embarrassed Frank Turner curses and laughs at guitarist Ben Lloyd as he continues to start the show with the energetic and upbeat ‘1933’.

Nap Eyes There is a short change over time before Nap Eyes take to the stage. I was fortunate enough to catch the Nova Scotian quartet at last year’s Moseley Folk Festival which led me to seek them out on their return to King's Heath. They open up the set with Judgement taken from the latest album, I’m Bad Now, with their usual laid back ease and understated approach to music making.

The Vamps May the fourth be with all the people attending The Vamps today at the Genting Arena Birmingham. As I take to my seat the Yorkshire lads PM take to the stage with lead singer Dan Reynard jumping and singing and making his presence known; within minutes of being on stage he had the crowd dancing along with him.

Noel Gallagher's High Flying Birds When Noel Gallagher comes to town - be it yesteryear with his brother and their sibling rivalry, or more recently with his High Flying Birds, it’s always an event. Tonight was no exception.

Kioko If you’re reading this it’s safe to assume that you love music, and hopefully you hate racism. If that’s the case, check out Love Music, Hate Racism! They were founded in 2002 during a time of increasing prejudice (remember that time the BNP started to gain support? *Shudder*). They’ve been peacefully campaigning for equality across all ethnic groups ever since, using gigs that celebrate love and acceptance.

Of Mice & Men “Welcome to this evening’s medley of metalcore! Ready to mosh? Marvellous.” On Wednesday night the metalheads of Birmingham turned out in force. They welcomed Of Mice & Men with arms wide, whiskey in hand – an army of long-haired lusciousness. Damn, it felt good to be back among my people! The metal community tends to make amazing crowds, and this night was certainly no exception. Both the main band and the support acts were embraced with the fiercest love. If this gig was anything to go by, the final stint of OM&M’s Defy Tour is going to be legendary.

Shame I have a lot of feelings about this gig, so this review might get intense. If so, it will only be an accurate reflection of the show itself. As always, I’ll try to make you feel as though you were there, but I don’t know whether I’ll be able to do justice to the savagery and thrill of the evening. Bear with me and I’ll try my best!

Shonen Knife On Sunday night I was pulled back in time, up into space, and transformed into an Osaka Ramone. Didn’t you go? Are you jealous? You should be! All three acts were excellent. They followed one another beautifully, but were diverse enough to give three wildly different experiences.

The Wonder Stuff + Ned’s Atomic Dustbin The last time The Wonder Stuff and Ned’s Atomic Dustbin toured together was back in 1990s and tonight they share the stage again at Birmingham’s O2 Academy for first night of two shows. They even brought along another Stourbridge character Graham Crabb from Pop Will Eat Itself who played a Nostalgic DJ Set.

Everything Everything The 12th April saw Everything Everything make their long awaited return to Birmingham after their previous date was postponed due to snow and safety concerns for the audience. As a regularly missed town on the tour map, Birmingham crowds are known for their dedication and riotousness. This particular gig was no different.

Tokio Myers Tokio Myers, the producer come pianist that mesmerised the nation and is renown for winning entertainment competition Britain’s Got Talent in 2017. Having amassed a meteoric fan base, bodies flooded every vein in the O2 Institute’s confined structure. Like a clot, the cellular like audience stuck together to get a glimpse of the artist who was encaged around an architecture of instruments.
