Vampire Weekend Whisper it but it's been over ten years since self titled first album of Vampire Weekend was released. An album, which quickly became the soundtrack to the final year of my university life. Much has changed since those heady days. Deerhunter Becoming a parent seriously affected my ability to discover new music. The days of scouring Last.fm or some such to find “similar” artists to my ongoing predilections, became the nights of little sleep and my rest-addled brain took succour in the familiar, the easy. Warmduscher It’s 60-plus years since rock’n’roll was invented and a lot of ‘new’ music just sounds like something you’ve heard before. So how great is it when you hear something that jumps out at you and says "Hey! You’ve not heard stuff like this before". And so it is with Warmduscher. Well strictly speaking you may have heard this music before but not all in one band, as Warmduscher seem to have incorporated a whole range of genres and styles in one.

Dream State It was now time for Dream State to take to the stage. CJ appears first from behind the curtain and before I knew it the rest of the band were on stage but I didn’t see them appear due to someone having a rather happy trigger finger on the smoke machine so it was near impossible to see them.

Issues HEAVY! If I were to describe the evening it one word, ‘Heavy’ would definitely be the one I’d go for. Coupled with ‘moshpit’ and ‘sweaty’, you can already get an accurate picture the mayhem that took over The Underworld in Camden on a quiet Thursday night for Issues.

Bloxx I’ve just had the Mondayest Monday blown away by the ferocious and harmonious sound that was Bloxx, along with some of my hearing. You know what I mean; it’s Monday for a start, I’ve just had one of those days and it’s absolutely pouring with rain. Little did I know, I was about to discover a cure.

Bingley Weekender Going back to work after six weeks off is always pretty challenging but to be whisked off to a festival straight afterwards certainly softens the dull ache of no longer being able to eat Coco Pops in your pants at midday. We arrived at Bingley Weekender cautiously optimistic after organisers had stepped in last minute to arrange the festival in place of the institution that is Bingley Music Live.

The Downs Bristol 2019 Nestled within bucolic parklands beyond the bustling edges of Bristol city, The Downs Festival returns for a triumphant fourth outing that brings together the special and the spectacular. This one-day event celebrates a diverse array of performances from both legendary and up-and-coming artists, topped off with a sizeable dollop of political goodwill. And despite the ominous presence of dark clouds and downpours that loom large that morning, blue skies and sunshine eventually triumph in time for the festival’s opening hour.
