Shed Seven Shed Seven - Still Going For Gold in Shedcember 2019, Massive Homecoming Yorkshire Gig at Leeds Arena. Without doubt the biggest band from York has to be Shed Seven, and as a loyal Yorkie I’ve seen them play in some of the smallest pubs and clubs in the city since they first got together, watched them lose the Battle of the Bands competitions, twice and also saw them play plenty of amazing shows at Fibbers and The Barbican in York. It smarts a bit that they choose Leeds as their big homecoming gig on the Shedcember tour this year.

Mac DeMarco An evening with Vernor Winfield McBriare Smith IV you say? I’m there! Tonight sees Vernor (the lesser-spotted Mac DeMarco to you guys) sojourn to Birmingham for the 1st time since his Institute gig in 2015 to proffer his jizz-jazz wears to us Midlanders…

Halestorm Of all the shows I’ve been to this year, this was one of the most enjoyable, and probably the most important.

Yungblud MADNESS! I’m sure everyone expected this to be a wild party under the O2 Academy Brixton’s roof tonight and they were ready for it from before reaching the venue doors. I arrived a bit early only to find out that people waiting outside were already warming up their voices, singing along to choruses of both Yungblud and classic British tunes. You could easily forget all about the cold and rain outside, as their presence was fading away to the excitement and restlessness that were filling the air.

McFly "I know what you’re thinking, McFly just got sexier" - Dougie Poynter McFly are back, people, and they are on fire! I’m not just referring to the pyrotechnics here, the pop-rock band made fan’s dreams come true by reuniting for an awesome ‘one night only’ gig at the O2 Arena in London on Wednesday night. The whole evening was filled with sing-your-heart-out classic tunes, such as ‘Obviously’ and ‘Star Girl’, bad jokes, "You wanna hear a joke? I’m a professional musician!" (by Dougie) and catchy new songs. It was everything you would want from McFly.

Vampire Weekend Whisper it but it's been over ten years since self titled first album of Vampire Weekend was released. An album, which quickly became the soundtrack to the final year of my university life. Much has changed since those heady days. Unaffected by the 2016 departure of Rostam Batmanglij (whose influence is still very much felt on newer tracks), Vampire Weekend have gone from NYC indie newcomers to seasoned mainstream live artists.

Sleeping with Sirens ‘Tonight in London we are going to play all the dope-ass ones!’… and they sure lived up to this statement. For those of you who thought Sleeping with Sirens are turning pop and going mellow, you’re in for a treat with their new album and definitely with their live performances. Returning to their original heaviness, SWS made a pleasantly surprising comeback this year with ‘How It Feels To Be Lost’ released via Sumerian Records. However, their UK tour shows took it up another level, with an even heavier sound, complimented by a masterful visual display of lights and shadows.

Deerhunter Becoming a parent seriously affected my ability to discover new music. The days of scouring Last.fm or some such to find “similar” artists to my ongoing predilections, became the nights of little sleep and my rest-addled brain took succour in the familiar, the easy. Them the breaks… plus, our babies were ace. No problem.

Warmduscher It’s 60-plus years since rock’n’roll was invented and a lot of ‘new’ music just sounds like something you’ve heard before. So how great is it when you hear something that jumps out at you and says "Hey! You’ve not heard stuff like this before". And so it is with Warmduscher. Well strictly speaking you may have heard this music before but not all in one band, as Warmduscher seem to have incorporated a whole range of genres and styles in one.

Dream State It was now time for Dream State to take to the stage. CJ appears first from behind the curtain and before I knew it the rest of the band were on stage but I didn’t see them appear due to someone having a rather happy trigger finger on the smoke machine so it was near impossible to see them.

Issues HEAVY! If I were to describe the evening it one word, ‘Heavy’ would definitely be the one I’d go for. Coupled with ‘moshpit’ and ‘sweaty’, you can already get an accurate picture the mayhem that took over The Underworld in Camden on a quiet Thursday night for Issues.
