Avatar I feel I’ve come a little late to the show for Avatar, despite the band being around for well over ten years, my first experience was at Download only last year, where they blew most of the opposition away with their metal freakshow circus antics. Since June last year I have managed to catch them on more than one occasion supporting Halestorm on their tour of the UK Academy circuit.

Halestorm About 8 years ago I was completely blown away by a voice that captured everyone inside an arena within 30 seconds - completely acapella. It gave everybody goose bumps and stopped them in their tracks - and the performer wasn’t even on stage yet. It was an offstage intro from Lzzy Hale from Halestorm and it had everyone mesmerised from the get go. 8 years and 4 albums later and they have lost none of that ability to instantly capture a room full of people. If anything, that ability is even stronger now with a catalogue of incredible tracks to choose from.

Avenged Sevenfold Tonights headline act are a band I loved as a 16 year old, but everything released since 'City Of Evil' hasn't really been to my taste. Having said that I have always kept one eye on their progress. Avenged Sevenfold hit the scene around the same time Bullet For My Valentine and Trivium did, and there was much talk to who would be the first to reach the promise land of headlining the metal festival, Download. Over the past month we have learnt that they have been the first of the three to have reached it. So the question on everyones lips tonight is are they up to the challenge?
