Moseley Folk Festival 2018 The festival god's blessed the 13th Moseley Folk Festival with glorious sunshine for the whole three days, which is only fair and right seeing as how they damned Moseley’s sister festival, Lunar to a torrents of rain for much of that weekend. And no matter how much rain makes for the "proper" festival experience, being dry, warm to hot (possible for the last time this year), makes for a much more pleasant festival. So karma readdressed and lucky 13 for some and all, Moseley got under way on the afternoon of Friday 31st August.

Boardmasters Surf + Music Festival 2016 Infected with festival fever, thousands sat above the sun-kissed sands of Cornwall’s Watergate Bay this weekend, on a picturesque hillside home to Boardmasters, one of the only British festivals that welcomes flip-flops over wellies.

The Waterboys Would Morrissey pop along for a quick guest appearance during Johnny Marr’s set (ahem...)? Would Richard Thompson ride onto the stage on a Vincent Black Lightening 1952? And would The Waterboys show us the whole of their moon...yes...it’s Moseley Folk Festival time again!

Moseley Folk Festival 2013 Oh lordy, the OAPs are right you know. The older you get the faster the years fly by. It seems like only yesterday that we were singing along lustily to All Around My Hat (the degree of lustiness being in direct proportion to the quantity of cider consumed) and yet here we are again at another MoFo. I’m not complaining, it’s the bit between festivals that gets my goat... real life I think it’s called. Jolly silly idea.

David Byrne and Saint Vincent When it comes to surprising collaborations new wave polymath David Byrne has previous form. Just take his hook up with Fatboy Slim on the Imelda Marcos musical Here Lies Love. Seriously...it happened. Google it. So joining forces with ex Polyphonic Spree disciple turned quirky solo artist in her own right St Vincent shouldn’t really have come as much of a shock. Listen carefully and you might even pick up some shared lyrical and vocal traits too, it really doesn’t take much imagination to hear Byrne coming up with St Vincent’s 2009 track Laughing With a Mouth Of Blood for instance.

Steeleye Span It’s strange how some festivals seem to be blessed with good weather and others...well...seem to be doomed to suffer plagues of frogs. Barring the odd shower every single Moseley Folk has been reliably dry and pleasant. Given the fact that this year’s been the most relentlessly grim since Noah took up boatbuilding you’d have been forgiven for packing a lifejacket or two...but no...MoFo was pretty much a rain free zone again, with...yes...some sunshine. Maybe the good lord’s a folk fan eh? That beard’s a dead giveaway, I hear he’s often at the Prince Of Wales necking the real ale too.

Japandroids at Summer Sundae 2012 Here at GigJunkies we're lucky-so-and-so's as we get to go to some fantastic events and festivals. Summer Sundae is just one of those events. Spanning 3-days in August 2012, about when we were blessed by glorious sun and cooling winds, I got the chance to shoot bands from a very varied cross-section of the popular and alternative music scene. Get in!

CULTS Naming a band these days must be a real bitch. How many great names have already been used over the years eh? Pick something cool and snappy...like Cults for instance...and the chances are it’s already been used, at least once (it has in this case...there’s another Cults on MySpace...some leftfield electro dude). I reckon there’s a business opportunity there, so send us a link to your music and we’ll come up with a name for you...for a small fee and a cut of your first £million naturally. Sadly (for our bank balance at least) all of tonight’s bands had names. After some fine tunes from Victories At Sea DJ’s HEARTS kicked off proceedings with (in their words) some “trip-rock garage pop”.
