As Skepta takes to his stage his new album ‘Konnichiwa’ is the mid week leader in the race for number 1 in the UK charts fighting off competition from Beyoncé, Prince and Radiohead’s new offering.

Tonight it’s clear to see how and why the genre has grown beyond the 2am night club appearances into a powerhouse that can no longer be pushed aside, belittled and ignored. The show was a prime example of why critics are starting to feel UK Grime artists now have the potential to achieve the same success US rappers have been enjoying for decades. OM

Support came from some local grime MC’s including Jaykae, Dapz, Big Fris, Tempo, Sox, followed by a set from Frisco who was joined on stage by Shortie for a blistering version of Boy Better Know’s ‘To Many Men’.

Considering Skepta’s new album has only been available for a few days, the fans already seem to know most of the words. The horde at The Rainbow Warehouse are chanting out the choruses like superstars! The show was only announced 2 days before and tickets sold out instantly and no doubt could easily have sold out a much bigger venue.

Playing mix of songs off the new album and older tracks from 2011’s ‘Doin’ It Again’ album. Skepta showed why he is currently topping the charts, with songs like ‘Shutdown’ and ‘That’s not me’ (a big crowd favourite).

During the set Skepta was joined on stage by Shortie and Jammers and the three of them bounced off each other keeping the crowd hyped up from the get go.

Then for the finale Skepta invited all the other rappers to the stage for a riotous version of Man (Gang).
