Mumford & Sons + Guests, Gentlemen of the Road Stopover at Greenhead Park, Huddersfield, UK – 2nd June 2012
Posted by Bianca on Saturday Jun 2, 2012 Under Country, Festivals, Folk, Indie, Rock, Singer/Songwriter, SoulGreenhead Park, Huddersfield played host to one of only two UK Gentleman Of The Road events, a one day festival if you will…
“Join us this summer for a series of Gentlemen of the Road Stopovers at handpicked locations around the world. Each Stopover is a day-long event, celebrating the music, food and people of the places we’re visiting. We’ll be bringing a full lineup of some of our favorite bands from around the world, and curating events that combine a music festival and local gathering into one epic party. We plan to start early, and go late, taking the party from the stage to the town. Please come join us if you can. It’ll be a whole lot of fun”… stated the Mumford & Sons boys on their official website.
With two stages and a very much so “festival feel”, even the archetypal British summer rain that plagues festivals up and down the country was not going to interfere with the fun that the thousands of poncho clad fans were intending to have. Live music kicked off at 4pm and support as it were (across the two stages) included the likes of Willy Mason, Michael Kiwanuka and Slow Club. On top of the music based festivities, entertainment was also provided within the arena by way of a travelling circus, acrobats, “lion tamers” and fortune tellers roamed the festival site interacting and amusing those whom they encountered. Why not scroll down and take a look through our photo diary of the day….
