Review by Chadwick Jackson with Photography by Bianca Barrett

April + Vista of Washington DC started of proceedings with some beautiful composed harmonious music, setting the tone for the night.

Little Simz is a performer that is at the peak of her powers, her presence, sound and catalogue in British Rap music over the years has solidified her work as truly one of the greats. Mama Roux’s is a very intimate venue designed perfectly for shows like what we had the joy of witnessing, pure energy, enthralling storytelling and a connection with the audience that was second to none. The lighting on the night very much complimented the mood. Performing a mixture of her album catalogue to date:

A Curious Tale of Trials + Persons (2015)
Stillness in Wonderland (2016)
Grey Area (2019)

Most of the the tracks on the night coming from here latest Mercury shortlisted album Grey Area, Little Simz has mastered the art of timing and rhythmic pattern, the audience was bouncing from start to finish in what was a sell out evening of the start of a tour that will be spoken about for many years to come. Little Simz is a true story teller well worth seeing live.
