Beliebers were out in force on Thursday night, for the second Birmingham date of Justin Bieber’s Believe tour. Crowds of over excited teenage girls, armed with glowsticks, flooded the NIA to see the pop sensation with support from his friends, Cody Simpson and Carly Rae Jepsen.

Before the show had even started, the sound of the screaming would be enough to deafen the crowd but nothing prepared you for the eruption of noise that came when the lights went down. After Bieber’s bodyguard welcomed everyone to the tour, he introduced 16 year old Australian, Cody Simpson. Joined by just two dancers, Cody kicked off his set with single ‘ Wish u were here’ and managed to send the crowd wild. The up and coming teenager could be described as a young Bieber but after this tour will certainly have a fan base of his own.

Carly Rae Jepsen burst on to the stage and performed tracks from her album ‘Kiss’. The 27 year old Canadian warmed up the audience with her new single before asking the crowd to be her “besties”. After a slight wardrobe malfunction, which left her explaining that it wasn’t that kind of show, the tiny pop star picked three girls to come up on to the stage to dance and in her words “act like fools”, to her hit single ‘Call me maybe’. It would be no surprise to anyone that the crowd were ready for their main act after being treated to his guests.

Ten minutes before Justin was due arrive on stage, a timer exploded on to the screen with a bang. The arena was filled by the sound of fans chanting for Justin with every minute that ticked by. With ten seconds to go, beliebers had drove themselves crazy with a handful crying with excitement. After a video montage expressing how the crowd should be always Believe, Bieber made his descent in to the NIA attached to large angel wings and joined by a mass of pyrotechnics. Opening with hits ‘All around the world’ and ‘Take you’, fans were treated to high energy dance routines that disabled the superstar from singing live. But rest assure, Bieber slowed it down and spoke about his new acoustic album. Asking the crowd if they would mind him warming up his vocal chords, he broke into a spine tingling warm up that showcased the voice behind his success.

The set of the show changed dramatically from an underwater theme to a space theme throughout the night but nothing seemed more exciting to the crowd than home videos from the teens childhood. A collective “AWW” filled the arena as he explained how he wanted to be a crossing man and not the singer he is today.

At one point during the show, Bieber was attached to a device which allowed him to perform over the crowd. Fans around and below took their opportunity to get his attention whilst he treated them with acoustic tracks from his new album ‘Believe Acoustic’. It was near the end of the night when he picked his ‘One less lonely girl’. A lucky fan got the chance to be serenaded on stage by Justin himself. Her face was a picture of delight as he broke other fans hearts, singing next to her before whisking her backstage.

“As long as you love me”,“ She don’t like the lights” and “Beauty and the beat” were the highlights of the night. At nearly quarter to 11, Justin exited the stage but came back with a bang to perform hit single ‘Boyfriend’. The sold out tour gives room for Justin to explain that fans should never give up and to follow their dreams. A late night for some of the smaller fans in the crowd but if you weren’t a Belieber before, you were certainly struck down by the Bieber fever after.
