Thank you to Mrs H for these lovely words on Emeli’s Birmingham show;

“I was part of the sell-out crowd at the O2 Academy, Birmingham where Emeli Sandé was about to perform her “Our Version of Events” set. There was an excited buzz about the place, with many of us gushing about seeing an artist perform at such a venue, believing most of us wouldn’t have the opportunity of seeing such a star in such an intimate setting for a long time yet.

The lights went down and Emeli came onto the stage to rapturous applause and cheers. Looking stunning with her trademark blonde hair and looking humble whilst thanking the audience for making the past year a year that had changed her life. She dedicated songs to her younger sister (Breaking the Law) and her new Husband Adam which received an “aah” from the crowd (most likely the women)… She played all the songs from the album, my favourites include, Suitcase, Clown, Beautiful, Heaven, Read All About It (PT III) and of course My Kind of Love.

It was a great night; she came on a 9.15 her voice stunning and powerful, without the warbling that some artists prefer to use to demonstrate their own vocal power. I was there with my mate and we were situated at the left of the stage, which provided a really good view, only missing 2 songs whilst she performed at the piano, she came off stage for just 10 minutes before coming back to the crowd to finish off her set to the song “Next to Me”. Overall a great gig, lots of energy and emotion, just what a fan wants.”
