Hot Chip The established band small tour of intimate venues has become a common occurrence in the past few years, and it is of little surprise that tonight’s Hot Chip performance should sell out almost instantly.

Fatboy Slim As the acid house smiley face carpet is laid down on the podium, you realise how much faster the changeover between DJs is compared with bands as it is only a brief period of time before the breaks legend that is Fatboy Slim takes to the stage, adorned in a Hawaiian shirt that is as colourful as his performance. Needless to say, Norman Cook is unlikely to let you down when stood behind the decks considering he has been honing his craft for the past 25 years of so yet his ability to create such an electrifying atmosphere is niche.

Jess Glynne Jess Glynne took to the stage at Birmingham’s Genting Arena this Sunday night for the fourth date on the Always in between Tour. One of many stops on her inaugural UK arena tour, the evening saw walls of fire, showers of confetti and dozens of tight pop hooks for which she has become famous.

The Big Reunion 2016 The Gig Junkies team descended on the bright lights and slot machines of Skegness Butlin's in the first of its two back-to -back Big Reunion weekends. Starting sixteen years ago as a reunion party for those who had attended the notorious club 18-30 holidays to catch up and rekindle holiday vibes, the hot sweaty romances of the summer created one of the UK's biggest winter music festivals. Whilst Club 18-30 still play a big part within the festival, the festival has also opened its doors to the general public.

Faithless Well it’s Christmas! Well nearly! Seasons of mistletoe and wine and peak gigging time! And for this little team of Gig Junkies, the first of three gigs in a row. This band ‘ceased to be’ in 2011 but not for long - a mid year announcement of 2.0 (to celebrate their twentieth year), gave us a couple of big gigs including headlining BBC Radio 1’s 20th anniversary celebrations in Ibiza and their recent gig at Alexandra Palace selling out in less than 50 minutes!. A national tour - which makes us very happy bunnies. For tonight, God is indeed a DJ - Faithless come to town.

Leftfield Shock and awe!! Leftfield are playing the O2 Institute in Birmingham... what?! Really?!! For me this was a gig not to be missed. Leftfield's 1995 release 'Leftism' was one of the most important soundtracks of my youth. More than any other record the heady and fascinating rhythms of Leftism, were the perfect accompaniment to a few drinks and 'indoor boogie' getting ready with chums for various heavy techno and psychedelic all-nighters in the heart of Birmingham and it's more bohemian quarters.

Basement Jaxx Although now a heritage dance act dating back to the 1990s, Basement Jaxx have certainly maintained a strong following, as proved by what looks like a sold out gig at the large Academy 1.

Saint Saviour Who’d have thought it eh? B-Town’s now seemingly home to the rebirth of old skool house! At least it will be if Greg Bird and Flamingo Flame have their wicked way. Sporting a sparkly eye mask, leather gloves and chain of fairy lights Bird knocks out the kind of tracks that crate digging DJs would willingly sacrifice their Numark turntables for. Singing live with a dude on an array of laptops and electronic gizmos and a guitarist adding additional colour to some of the quieter tracks (shades of Durutti Column in there perhaps) it was a masterclass in bringing this kind of music to life, one of the most glorious, soul lifting, hand in the air like ya just don’t care sets you’re likely to see. Both Animals and Skool (pick of their latest must have EP, Black Tableaux) were stunningly good, temporarily transforming the Hare & Hounds into some kind of fabulously sweaty gay disco in 1980’s Chicago. That’s a rather marvellous thing by the way. Simply one of the most exciting new bands in Birmingham.
