HOMESHAKE It’s been six years since Peter Sagar aka HOMESHAKE released his first cassette to the world. His reputation as a master of the chill wave sound has continued to grow with each of the four albums released since then. Returning to the Hare & Hounds for the second time, I was intrigued to see how his new album ‘Helium’ would translate to the live setting.

Calling at Glasgow, Manchester, London and finally their hometown of Birmingham, the shows were curiously large for the band and after following their meteoric rise as a completely unsigned band, I was intrigued to see how they matched up to these larger venues at their Birmingham date.

I’m convinced Connan Mockasin comes from another planet. Like any good shape shifting alien you never really know what to expect from him. Thankfully the UK had three chances to experience his warped and wonderful world on his current tour supporting his latest album 'Jassbusters'. I flew up to his former homeworld of London to catch his final stop, a live performance and signing at Rough Trade East.

Their current tour brings them back again to the Brudenell in Leeds, a venue for which they confess they have a great fondness.

Her's Music for dreamers… The dream-pop duo Her’s, consisting of Stephen Fitzpatrick and Audun Laading-or should I say trio, with their old friend the cut-out Pierce Brosnan holding fort by the drum machine-waltzed onto the intimate stage at the Sebright Arms to the mellow sounds of Roy Orbison’s Dreams. Admittedly nervous and hot under the lights, the pair radiated a comical air, filling the packed-out room with friendly giggles and stifled guffaws.
