Sam Fender Some might say that it’s been a bit of a whirlwind of a year for Sam Fender. Since releasing his debut single 18 months ago, the 24-year-old has been listed on the BBC’s Sound of 2018 Award, picked up a prestigious BRITS Critics’ Choice Award and sold out venues across the country. Quite a feat for an artist that’s yet to even release their debut album.

Richard Ashcroft As most people know, Wigan is best known for three things, Northern Soul, Pies and The Verve. Idlewild Before tonight's gig to promote their new album 'Interview Music', if anyone had asked me how long headline act Idlewild had been performing, I would have never have said that they started in 1995. 24-years has rocketed by for me, but for them they appear to be very fresh indeed.  In fact, if we take a moment to reflect on their careers: starting about the same time as Coldplay, the whole music scene itself feels as though it has slowly but surely moved away from Coldplay's more relaxed style, to where Idlewild have been "at" for all their career.

Suede When David Bowie passed away in 2016 I vowed I’d never again miss the opportunity to see a band I loved, when the opportunity presented itself. So I took the grey and long road from Birmingham to Leeds on a Wednesday night to see one of my favourite all time bands, Suede.

Sundara Karma The glam-some foursome return to stage with a collection of their most adventurous and sonically-challenging gems from their discography. Following the recent release of their latest album, ‘Ulfilas’ Alphabet’, Sundara Karma proved they are capable of an even more conceptual feel, both musically and visually - moving more towards the ‘glam rock’ genre, the boys are demonstrating a beautiful fusion of music that feels like the lovechild of Bowie and Queen.

David Gray I doubt there are many people of my generation who won’t find a copy of David Gray’s mind-bogglingly successful White Ladder sitting in the CD rack in the family home. Looking back I can remember many an occasion of cracking open the stereo in countless houses and seeing White Ladder staring up at me, where it was at the time swiftly replaced by the new Limp Bizkit album (we’ve come a long way baby).

The Slow Readers Club Sheffield has always had a love affair with The Slow Readers Club and vice versa and so it is that the SRC juggernaut roles into The Steel City for the 13th night of their mammoth 48 date UK & mainland Europe tour. The fact they’ve sold out the Leadmill main room is testament to this love affair. As singer Aaron Starkie alludes to on stage it is their biggest gig outside their home city of Manchester.

Embrace Everyone has that first big breakup album don't they. On reflection my first breakup wasn't even a breakup, it was just a rejection. The heartache is long gone but my love for The Good Will Out, the debut album from Huddersfield heroes Embrace, stubbornly remains. The opportunity to see that record played in its entirety is an intriguing one...
