Travis I was ecstatic to see one of my favourite bands of all time Travis on Monday night at Symphony Hall Birmingham.

I Love The 90s As an eighties baby I was always too young to see any of the I Love The 90s stars when they came to the UK, the teasing of car radio adverts for the US leg of the tour days after I was due to leave the Florida sunshine didn’t consolidate me either. So when the UK dates were announced the little girl inside of me was more excited than the Pointer Sisters with a Crunchie! And boy was it everything I’d expected and more in the final show of the UK dates!

Joe Jackson Tonight is an all too rare opportunity to see Joe Jackson, singer, songwriter, pianist and writer, on his “Fast Forward” UK Tour. Jackson arrived in the New Wave/Post punk scene in 1979 with his “Look Sharp” album containing the witty and acerbic “Is She Really Going Out With Him?” Born in Burton, Jackson grew up in Portsmouth, and is now Berlin based via London and New York. The show is a sellout, and the older crowd (with a few youngsters dotted around) eagerly await the start of the show. To get the crowd in the mood, we are treated to some old time jazz to warm us up ready for the show. I’m hoping for some “Jumping Jive” at some point this evening.

The Corrs The Corrs were a revelation in the nineties with a blend of rock and traditional Gaelic or Garlic as I wrote in my notes due to autocorrect, which gives them a unique sound as well as aroma.

Duran Duran I was very excited to hear Seal would be supporting Duran Duran on tonight's bill at the new plush Genting arena. When he enters on stage a lady in front of me shouts out "I've only come to see you!" which has the crowd laughing, and I must admit, I would have paid good money to just see Seal himself too. Highlights for me are Crazy, and Adamski's Killer, which is just one of those era defining songs from the 90's Acid House scene. There is something so electric about Seal's voice - which is soulful, and yet something more, sitting so well with an electronic track - much in the same way that Rhianna's voice can.

The Prodigy

Dear Keith, Maxim & Liam- THANK YOU! Thank you for making me feel so proud to be British at a time of uncertainty. The Prodigy are The Kings of Big Beat & this evening firmly established that view. The outreach that these guys possess reeks of grandeur. The crowd consisted of early teens to shameless OAPs all bouncing off the walls of The Barclaycard Arena to the sound of EDM royalty!

Leftfield Shock and awe!! Leftfield are playing the O2 Institute in Birmingham... what?! Really?!! For me this was a gig not to be missed. Leftfield's 1995 release 'Leftism' was one of the most important soundtracks of my youth. More than any other record the heady and fascinating rhythms of Leftism, were the perfect accompaniment to a few drinks and 'indoor boogie' getting ready with chums for various heavy techno and psychedelic all-nighters in the heart of Birmingham and it's more bohemian quarters.
