When Newton Faulkner burst onto the scene with his unique approach to a blend of pop and folk music back in the summer of 2007, he embarked on a journey that’s seen him create and release some of the most beautiful music.

The Best of… So Far by Newton Faulkner

Last year saw Newton celebrate the 11th birthday of his stunning debut album, Hand Built by Robots, which put him on the scene as one of the country’s emerging artists. Listening back to it now, the album itself was simply a taster of what he had in store, yet its tracks remain as timeless as ever.

There’s something so spectacularly unique about Faulkner’s music. His voice projects at an impressive level; it’s husky, unique and allows him to put a distinctive stamp on his music. Some may jump the gun to compare him to the likes of Ed Sheeran and George Ezra, but the truth is, Faulkner’s in a world of his own.

Going beyond his voice, his talents run through to his skilful guitar playing and heart-warming lyrics in toe-tapping tracks like Brick by Brick to meaningful stories in I Need Something and Clouds.

Now, with a catalogue of dreamy singles, albums and hundreds – if not thousands – of tours and festival performances under his belt, Newton has released a greatest hits record that features two discs and 31 of his tracks from his six chart-topping albums. He’s also embarking on a UK tour too, which kicked off in Bournemouth on Monday (April 22).

The Best of… So Far is not only filled with Newton’s classics, but outstanding and wonderfully clever covers of popular songs including Queen’s Bohemian Rhapsody, which is one of Newton’s signature songs to perform live, as well as Maroon 5’s Payphone and even the theme tune for children’s animated TV show, Spongebob Squarepants. Plus, there are also some brand new tracks that are an absolute delight to listen to.

For those who haven’t listened to Faulkner’s music before, this is the perfect introduction to dive into a record filled to the brim with dreamy vocals that will make the soundtrack to your weekend. And if you’ve been listening to Newton since the very beginning when he released his debut single Dream Catch Me, shortly followed by his breath-taking cover of Massive Attack’s Teardrop.

So, sit back, relax and immerse yourself in a world of luscious vocals and an album that you’ll want to listen to again and again.
